Just about half or 51.5% of responding employers said they have not implemented value-based plan design tools in their drug benefit plans as shown in Table 7. Reduced copayments for specific drug classes (28.6%) and incentives to motivate behavior change (22.7%) are tools that are being implemented by employers. The 16 employers listing tools not provided as a survey response cited traditional utilization management approaches including zero copayment for generics, copy waiver for a switch to generics, mandatory generics, deductible waiver, and out-of-pocket limits or incentives.
